Participantset prog3. machine pumps out then fills, then washes then heater comes on, then machine stops and carries on heating. not nice. changed timer today still does exactly the same ,checked pressure switch, leads going through door all ok. could it be a dud timer.M

When you say it washes you mean it “sloshes around” for a bit?
Is the circulation pump coming to a halt for some reason when it should be carrying on? (Blocked impellor for example?)

ParticipantNo its a good wash action timer clicks on one click ,motor stops timer clicks on once more heater comes on timer stops clicking and continues to heat, turn the timer back to start and it does exactly the same.M

Static heat – got to be waiting for a signal from a thermostat……

Thought you said you’d changed the timer.

Can’t be the timer twice then surely? Probably something to do with the ‘half-load valve’ or the pressure switch maybe? Oh how I wish bl**dy Indesit would give out wiring diagrams 👿

Participantyeah we changed the timer but it looked as if it had been used before with scratch marks on the spades and a really grotty box.M

you may find its leaked water into base pan at some stage and caused an earth fault on wash motor, this throws up really strange faults, failing that try the black thermostat that screws in near sump.

Participantif it was problem with stats surely it would not heat or overheat .the heater is working fine its just the motor stops throwing water over it.M

I’ve had a problem before with one of these that the motor would go off, on the subject of design & safety obviously any design engineer should forsee this scenario & have a cut-out in series with the heater so that it won’t overheat.
I’d say its looking like a motor fault & also a pressure switch change. obviously if there is no pressure from circulation pump heater should not come on. So look clogged pressure switch. Could be faulty timer but i think that would be third on my list..December 11, 2005 at 5:19 pm #157223machineman
Participantthanks gang going back on tuesday with replacement timer and p/switch will let you know the out come. m
