Be careful how you handle any of the Ariston/Hotpoint WMA cold fill clones.
Went to an Ariston A1636 with a leak complaint. found water leaking from the inlet valve, inside the machine. On first appearance it would appear that all I needed to do was unscrew this part and possibly fit a new rubber seal, but no 😥

In their infinite wisdom Merloni have used the original Indesit/Ariston valve/dispenser assy, but to fit it to this larger Hotpoint WMA sized cabinet, they have added a small extension to the fill valve, this joint was the source of the leak, so far so good, but it does not screw on, it has been glued on 🙄 , there is no thread inside the small extension. This one dripping water down the drum and onto the heater, ( which does not have the black Hotpoint heater cover fitted from the factory ) and had also saturated the motor and motor plug & wiring harness. Machine has had a module fitted under g/tee. It looks as though this could fail if you pull the machine about, or slightly overtighten the fill hose.

Whilst that is an excellent temporary measure, I would not recommend it as a permanent repair. You would have to remove the valve mounting bracket 1604743 to fit the hose direct to the valve. If someone needed to move the machine in future and was unaware of your ‘fix’ they would be pulling the hose directly on the valve/dispenser assy rather than the cabinet & mounting plate.

Credit where credit is due eh? Indesit have to be the first company to have ‘revolutionised’ the inlet valve v’s dispenser problem! Bung the valve and dispenser together in one unit………brilliant!

New concept or big c*ck-up I wonder? It’s a big overall production cost saving exercise after all said and done. But another example of a component failure that will inevitable result in a BER outcome. 🙁
