    OK, I have previously diagnosed a fault with this machine once before with the helpful advise from some of the guy’s on this site, so I am hoping to repeat it.
    The machine stopped during a wash cycle, displaying an error code of E16, if my memory serves me correctly, Overfilled and risk of flooding. Funny thing is no water actually entered the machine. Went to a spin cycle and got the error code for blocked outlet E15.
    I had the spider break approximately 9 months ago and I think that it may have damaged the heating element. Does any one know what the insulation resistance should measure for the element and would this going low cause the described fault?
    Would like to repair as Hotpoint no longer produce sandstone appliances as far as I am aware.

    thanks for the reply but I know the pressure switch is operating correctly. having applied a small amount of air pressure to the switch, confirms the change over. I ask about the element as I know it is scuffed as a result of the spider failing and due to the previous failure on the machine which threw up the blocked outlet code.
    Do you know what the insulation resistance should measure?
    (Trying to avoid the unnecessary purchase of a control module, if it is not required).

    Definate case of duff heating element!

    Its ‘Natural Linen’ actually, thats what the N in WM72N stands for. Would also concur that the heater is faulty. 🙂

    Thanks guys, I thought it was but obviously wanted to get a 2nd opinion before going out to gather the parts. Fortunately, we’ve got some very switched on people on this forum.

    Not the heating element as first suspected!
    So it’s back to the drawing board. Anyone got any other idea’s?
    I put the new heater in, selected a program, machine started. Refused to take any water on board, statred to turn the drum, next minute “E16” displayed. Selected just a spin cycle by pressing G several times, machine starts to spin but the pump won’t kick in, then the error message “E15” is displayed.
    I’m hoping it’s not the control board, although when I measure the resistance of one Triac and compared with another, it does appear to be at a lower value, so I am going to change that. If anyone would like to comment, please add.

    E15 and E16 are related as they can both be triggered by the flood protection level on the pressure switch 😉

    I would check that as originally suggested by Penguin 😀

    Possibly blocked pressure chamber or leak in pressure system ?

    Pressure Switch is operating correctly, and I don’t think there is a blockage in the system. I am not getting any voltage being supplied to any of the water inlet valves. Any ideas on where to look? A visual inspection of the boards has been carried out but failed to shown any signs of damage to components or otherwise.
    If you have any question to ask before offering a diagnosis, please fire away, after all is said and done your helping me.

    I’d check that! You could blow down the pressure pipe from the switch end. That will tell you if the chamber is blocked (unless there’s a hole in the pipe)

    Unplug the machine first, of course!

    After 20 years of electrical/electronics experience I always work with the power isolated where possible, otherwise it’s rubber gloves and not marigolds, 😉 (and don’t look at me like that! 😯 ).

    The chamber is free of obstructions, so any ideas.

    Hi Sparki , You seem to mave checked most things . No personal experience of this machine , But I have had faults in the past where a no fill fault was caused by an open circuit pump or its wiring . Check it out , with power off , what have you got to loose?
