the two that came off are a white one which i think goes to one of the switches on the front and a brown and black wire together which i think came off the timer

just out of interest could you tell me the colours of the wires that go to the heat setting switch the reason i ask is cos there is a wire missing off that switch

just to let u know the single white wire which is off goes all the way down the right hand side of the case to the bottom somewhere so do the black and brown wires but the black and brown wires are on one plug

The white goes to the heat setting switch and down to the heater. According to the wiring diagram I have, the black goes to terminal A on the timer and down to the heater also but shares it with a yellow lead that goes to the Blocked Filter Neon Light. So check if your brown wire goes to that neon first before switching on 😉

Marked “A” on my diagram but yes it shares the same timer terminal as the live feed from the mains supply

    Re: Hoover TV timer wiring

As the original poster appears to have been sorted, can I ask what the wires that go to the heater are ?
    I.E. what each colour is?

My wife is complaining of the unit not heating up enough since we moved into this house (why does it take her a year to say so?), yet on testing both the thermal fuse and the thermostat both read nigh on short circuit, the top 1/2 of the heater looks to come on (how do I get the bottom 1/2 on?).

In order to investigate further I’d like to know what colour wire is what?

I’m an electronic engineer & the fixing of this is no problem to me, I’d just prefer to know what I’m looking at though.

P.S. it would appear to be the newer heater assy with the black type 281 140C thermostat and the filter care light is not coming on.
I have mentioned to her that the heat setting switch was pushed in but she says she has tried changing the setting for that.

Also – Is a wiring diagram available anywhere for this?

    Cheers,
    Mattylad.

    EDIT: It appears that

Black is live in (S/C to plug top live pin)
Yellow appears to be a fuse detection line& reads 1.02 ohms to the Black.
Red is the top heater switched negative (49 ohms to Black)
White is the bottom heater switched negative (49 ohms to Black)

Any suggestions on what to look for next?

Oh dear now trying a load in it, it would appear that the filter care light does come on, although not all the time & intermittently ?

Which part in the heater assy would be faulty for that to happen?

I’m having to assume that it’s the thermostat as the fuse is fine, which if that’s the case is a £35 fix because a thermostat on is own (I assume) is not available.

    cheers.
    Mattylad.

You’ll need a complete heater assembly available here

Ok Martin, but before I spend on a complete assembly, can you advise me when the bottom heater element should be heating up?

It never seemed to heat, even when the thermostat is (temporarily & with fire extinguisher on standby) bypassed ?

Yes the thermostat keeps tripping out but I’d like to be able to ensure that the bottom heater element should also be working on high heat settings.
OR would that be something that happens a long while into the program?

P.S. does that store price include VAT?
