ParticipantHi Have just bought new Wf540 yesterday. Left it on today while at work got home and found thatthe on/off and the Wash enhance lights keep flashing. Machine won’t do anything.
Rang Hotpoint and they said yes its faulty and needs an engineer. 3 days wait. Rang comet and they said when the hotpoint engineer says its faulty then they can send there engineer to look at it – an extra 2 days!!. AND i paid for extended warraty and this is the best they can do.
Can’t even get an exchange until the engineer sees it ( i don’t want it now anyway )
PATHETIC

I don’t have the fault codes for this model unless they are the same as another one but nothing to cross refer to 😐
If it is a “pump” error it may well be worth checking the installation though as a crushed waste hose or similar stopping the water from being pumped out could cause this.

Personally, I’m not a fan of The Indesit Company, who own Hotpoint. However, I have to say that given the time of year and the peak volume of repairs that always happens before Christmas, 3 days for call out is not bad at all. Give them a chance.

My gripe is that a brand new machine breaks down first wash – already been without a machine for 4 days 👿
Went into Comet after i posted to complain, was told that i should bring it straight back and they would exchange it straight away. Already had engineer booked so i left it till today
Ok here was the problem.
Engineer looked at it and said it was a loose connection. Fixed that switched on and it done the same thing again. Looked at it more closely and identified that the circuit board is faulty and told me to take it back to Comet.
Comet said they wouldn’t exchange it without an engineers report so i had to get him to call into the store in order to get a replacement ( 2 hour delay )
I now have a new one and will let you know how it gets on
Valuable lesson – Don’t buy from Comet as thier customer service sucks

Hi Lunie,
In fairness it’s not uncommon for a retailer or manufacturer to ask for some form of report before exchanging a machine as, in all honesty and being blunt about it, user error is a huge factor. You wouldn’t believe the number of cals that we attend were there is actually no fault with the appliance, even when it was supposedly installed and tested at times too.
