The dryer part of my washer dryer isn’t heating. Everything else is fine.
Traced fault to Thermostat/switch that sits between the heating element terminals and turns the current to the element on/off. (Removed from inside only).
Could you please tell me the correct name for this part and what it should cost?
Also what does the other thermost do (the one with 2 thin black wires coming from it and a muti plug)?
Sorry about the poor technical terms.
    Thanks for your help.

Re: WD420 Not heating 240v at element. Element has continuit

Marcos wrote:I have 240 V at the terminals of the heating element and have continuity through the element measuring 35 ohms, does this sound about the right resistance?

The resistance reading is about right (2 different types of element fitted to this model, both vary).. But if you have power to that element and it still doesn’t heat, clearly it’s got to be faulty 😕

    Thanks for the reply Martin
Just changed post due me being a bit dim.
Pulled cover off and it became apparent I was checking for voltage at the wrong terminals (guess I shouldn’t really have started messing untill I was sure what I was doing but lesson learned luckilly not the hard way).

The part you need is a ‘One-shot Thermostat’ (Part No: 1605160 cost about £5) and the other is the main temperature sensing ‘Thermistor’ 🙂

I would querie why the one-shot failed though and may need a bit of expert TLC to establish the cause?….see below for help

    Thanks again Martin.
Think I’ll get the experts in.
