Hello,
Customer reported dishwasher was sticking and making a funny sound.
I found a fault with the float mechanism, microswitch spring was to weak to push the float back after a fill so not enough water was entering the machine.
I replaced microswitch and checked the element – OK, thermostat next to the
element = S/C and there was a small screw in stat on the right hand side which was O/C.
Is the small stat a safety once only stat ? if so should it be S/C or O/C?
There is a marking on the stats case that says 180, is this the temp sat rating?

Screw-on stat is the temperature control stat, normally open. Timer is stopped for heat, stat making restarts timer. Stat by heater is overheat stat – normally closed.

Depends on the date code, different stats fitted, basically the machine can have either two 85°C closed circuit stats or an single double pole 85°C normally closed stat to prevent overheating, and one 65°C normally open stat to control wash temperatures.
The safety stat is fitted in different positions dependant on the date code.Grr, beaten to it by the feathered one. :wave:

The gear wheel should be flush with the end of the timer motor shaft. The recognised fix was to use loctite but I used to roughen up the shaft with side cutters and push the gear wheel back on.
