ParticipantWhilst my dishwasher was in use in the kitchen a funny smell started. I finally traced it to the dishwasher and it appeared that there was no water getting into the machine. I’ve checked the solonoid (water inlet) and is working ok, I’ve cleaned out the tube to the vacume switch. I’ve “Reset” the machine but the water doesn’t seem to cover the heater element, i’m guessing this is why its making a smell. I going to check the water pressure incase this is the cause but would like to know if anyone else has had a similar fault and cure.

It’s rare that water covers the element in any dishwasher jrwestham 😉
It relies on water circulation from the spray arms, I think you may have a circulation motor problem/blockage or the spray arms are badly blocked.
Power off when investigating please :zap:

Ok thanks,
I tried it again today selecting program 2 (delicates) and it appears to be letting water in but I can’t hear the sprinkers start up. It empties the water and when it bleeps I open the door and the first LED is flashing (Rinse). If this is an error code its not in the troubleshooting section of the instruction book. Any ideas as to what area the problem is?

Flood protection activated – water is leaking into the undertray. Drain undertray to reactivate – find leak, or get help.
Power off before any investigations.

Ok,
email sent for spare part (Motor Run Capacitor) which had burst and it looked like a metal worm was escaping from the hole. This is what the smell was as per my original post. Is this a common fault?January 2, 2006 at 5:03 pm #159237kwatt
KeymasterFairly common, it sounds as if the capacitor has just failed and that being the case it’s a fairly easy fix.
