ParticipantI have a stand alone fridge that has stopped cooling, the light is on, and nothing else is happening, nothing from the motor, just dead.
The model is a Tricity Bendix TB57L. Refridgerant = R134a. The compressor is AFK 38A. It is 6 years old. Any ideas what I can do to fix it or where to go to get a reasonably priced repair. I live in Lancing West Sussex.

It’s probably the thermostat which is not overly expansive repair.
Check the repairs@ link below for an independent engineer 🙂
Power off if you decide to investigate yourself please :zap:

Thanks for your prompt reply, have tried the search for a local engineer but the search failed to find one, can you supply the thermostate ? and at what cost as I will fit it my self, have had a look inside the fridge and all seems straight forward with the power off, of course.

Good morning Dave
Thermostate arrived OK, it is slightly different than the one I have, in terms of the terminal/connection lay out. I made a note of how the wiring was on the original before disconecting and thought I had got it about right on the new thermostat. But all though the fridge is now working the interior light comes on & off as it should but after 10 mins when the fridge has begun to cool down the light will not come back on & the thermostate control seems to have no effect on the fridge it just stays on, getting colder & colder. It seems as if I have the thermostate control feed to the light and a constant feed to the motor.
There was numbers on the old stat 3, 6, 4 to each terminal it was these numbers that I used on the new stat i.e. 3 to 3,4 to 4 & 6 to 6.
I have put the earth to the earth terminal, the main feed black wire to the right hand side terminal marked as 4(on the new stat), the main feed brown to the middle terminal with a 6 below it. i.e. next to the black. The main blue wire is direct to the bulb conector, same as before. The brown wire from the light switch I have connected to the left hand side on the new stat, marked 3. There is one slightly larger terminal left that is to large for any of the existing conections to fit on to , so have left this one alone.
Sorry this is a bit long winded but I have tried my best to describe what I have done. The good news is the motor is obviously still ok and it was the thermostat that had gone wrong.
Any help would be appreciated, my Dad is an electrician but I wanted to sort this out with out his help.
