something tells me that you may not be particularly suited to repairing your own washing machine.
For your info they are inside the motor. Unplug before trying anything and take a hint, call a pro.Re: brushes
I am very capable of repairing this myself I just didn’t know where the brushes were located on this model.
I am also very aware to unplug any electrical item before exploring it!Thankyou for the advice that I did ask for.

My esteemed colleagues concerns are very real, and I also share them, your initial question is akin to someone asking where the tyres are on a car ( the wheels of course 😉 ) the brushes are always in the motor, so unless your user name is tongue in cheek, please proceed with extreme care.

With regard to the safety issue, we aren’t overly bothered if you get a shock or not if you are determined to fix it yourself. However, a reader of this thread in a few months time may not have your expert knowledge, so it is his safety that the moderators are concerned about.

I think it’s very likely that kalamity (like so many other members of the public at large) may well have mentioned to someone that his (or her even?) washing machine had failed. Very often a standard reply from a friend or work colleague would be something like ….”oh, I expect the brushes have gone on it?”
Faced with that seemily credible advice (and in kalamity’s defence here) having access these forums, merely enquired as to their ‘location’ ?
Kalamity was rightly surprised by the reply I suspect 😕
In the end we have to watch both ourselves and our readers safety. As I have said many, many times, if we have to explain in a blow-by-blow fashion how to repair an appliance then we have to assume that the required skill and knowledge is not available and therefore, we must question the person’s ability and competence to effect a safe repair.
This is not intended as an insult or protection of our own business, it’s for your safety.
All it takes is a wrong connection to the earth, an attempt to repair whilst live, not knowing how to discharge a capacitor or a myriad of other checks and the result could be a serious injury. Just think, what would happen if the casing of an appliance was inadvertantly left “live” and I’ve seen it happen on several occasions. Almost every year there’s a couple of stories about people trying to repair who do themselves serious harm, in some cases a person’s death is a result.
I have no idea how other companies or individuals act or how much onus that they place upon their customer’s safety, but here we like to think that we give solid advice whilst trying to ensure that you repair in a safe manner.

OK. Kalamity’s was a naive question with regard to a washing M/C, but as a DIY’er I was once asked to replace the ‘brushes’ on a hoover vac. When I asked which brushes the answer was on both sides of that roller thing?

To be honest, 95{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of people that I call on with this fault, say that their ‘bushes’ have gone, I always have a sarcastic glance out of the window into the garden to check. 😆
In the same way that if I order a part such as a hose or similar and they ask how long it will be, I reply ” about 12 to 15 inches” 😉 😈
