ParticipantWent to the above dishwasher.
“Do you give free estimates”.
Spent 1 + 1/2 hours trying to fix the fault, found out that the solenoid/antiover flow was sticking, even after removing the presure pipe and with 240v on the solenoid the valve was shut.
Quoted £15 for parts 22.50 for fitting.
“Oh is it that much, I’ll get a new one instead”.Does anybody know if the solenoid/antioverflow is available as a universal part? what is the cheapest?
Any answers greatfully received.

It’s a specific valve but fits loads of Lux group dishwashers.
£15 is about right as well so you didn’t overprice the job on the part, but you did underprice your labour in my opinion 😉
Now you can see why it’s not worth doing free estimates 😀
Preach over 😆

Once these valves have been triggered by an overfill you have to reset them. Remove pressure hose to valve and ensure that there is no water in it . Refit one end to valve and blow down pipe then suck back as well. This sometimes does the trick, but if not, and only after you are sure you have cleared the reason for the valve locking off, refit the valve into the machine, reconnect inlet hose and turn on the water. The valves on these Zan-based machines use a magnet to permanently hold the safety diaphragm in place in the valve so even if the machine is switched off or messed with it still won’t allow the d/w to fill. So with water on and programme set to fill, wait for the valve solenoid to buzz (trying to fill). Then with a small and obviously discreet hammer, tap the inlet pipe COLLAR (the piece that screws on the valve) several times and valve magnet on the safety should release and fill. This works 90{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time; the other 10{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} – new valve. (I’ve only bought about 10 of these Zan valves in 23 years – they are not that unreliable).Always test afterwards with several fill/empty cycles to be sure.

Thanks for the great advice,
I quoted so low because I’am using their machines to train myself.

No, no, no – this is a “blue tubes” machine. If you’re not in and out in 20 minutes, you’re doing something very wrong.

cheersGet a bicycle pump with small tyre valve screwed into the flexible pump connection. Attach long bit of pressure switch tubing to valve. Gently introduce it down the hole and blast away a couple of times or three.
Admittedly I’ve only had to do this once but it worked for me.Once system is clean pump out machine so fill starts from empty. Don’t think any drying is necessary but it’s best to check fill/empty 2/3 times before leaving obviously.

Also check horseshoe shaped hose under machine for gunk!

My method:
Take the syphon tubes out & clean them, while theyre out tilt the machine back (or if it has a base cover, lay on its back & take the cover off) and take off the horseshoe hose & clean it thouroughly. Refit 1 end back onto one of the sump connections and blow hard through the other end, then fit the hose to the other connection & do the same again. Pull off the 2 pressure hoses, check for water in the hoses & refit. Put the blue tubes back in, reasssemble then fill & drain the machine 3 times. Sorted.January 19, 2006 at 10:20 am #160638iadom

Thanks Chris, I did a Zanussi one with a similar fault a few weeks ago, managed to get it working with a clean out.
