My Hotpoint wm72p had a drumfront modification done by a Hotpoint engineer in 2000, the old door seal was discarded asit no longer fitted due to the mod. The door seal is now needing replacement and the standard part now wont fit ( I fitted the standard part and the gap between the seal and the drum is too big). I have contacted Hotpoint and they have no record of this modification and I cant get hold of the part number for the new modded part ( doorseal with a lip). Any help greatly apprechiated.

I think the one you need is part number 1600125, which part number have you been supplied (1600072 or 1603006 I imagine) ?

Not the easiest to refit, the inner lip has to fold inside the drum front, whilst the outer edge goes around the front of the drum front, best done with the front panel removed, after unplugging of course. I find this one easier if you start at the bottom by lining up the drain hole , make sure the drum can revolve freely after fitting, if you don’t seat the inner lip correctly it will foul the inner drum.

I think you may have had usb kit fiited and the door seal req’d is 1602754 it would only be 1600125 door seal if the drum had been replaced with the front plate and seal., they were van stock at the time to cure a tearing problem hope this helps.
