Re: EU1461W0GB/05 approx. 4 years old. Fan oven appears to be low temperature (according to Mrs. and extra oven thermometer). Have changed main oven thermostat but no improvement. Fan runs OK as far as I can tell. Oven seems to run between 30 and 50 degC low depending upon thermostat setting. Any ideas or should I change the extra thermometer (or Mrs!)? Thanks for help.[/u]

It depends what type of thermometer you’re using? The cheap analogue stand alone ones that sit on the oven shelf are very unreliable at best. Only a digital electronic device with a remote sensor probe will deliver a true reading to within 5{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}. It will only do that provided the oven thermometer is allowed to ‘cycle’ at least 3 times as well 😉

Usually oven thermostats are very reliable and as you have replaced yours, I venture to suggest the fan motor or indeed the fan element the more likely culprits in this case?

has the fan setting got a separate element ??

    Re: NEFF Oven low temp.

The most important question is: has the temperature characteristics of the oven changed all of a sudden? After 4 years you should be well used to the oven and its temperaures. If it has changed, then there is a fault, if not then that is probably the characteristic of that oven and you need to adjust your cooking times/temps to suite. I notice that is a multifuntion oven, might be worth testing it on conventional setting (heat top and bottom, no fan) and see what the temps are like on that. At least that would eliminate any fan or fan element problems.

I have a similar problem – the thermostat is switching off the element too quickly, in my case about 20C too low…I have (guiltily) overcome the high temperature problem to some extent by filing away a camso that I can turn the stat a bit higher.
I’m sure the problem hascrept up on us rather than happened suddenly…disappointed to hear a new stat hasn’t solved the problem – so I have two questions :
    1. How can the fan itself be causing the problem?
    2. What do you mean by fan element – surley there aren’t different elements for fan/normal, are there?
Also, neither of these problems would account for the stat switching the heatier off a too low a temp, would they?
    Thanks for your thoughts

    Re: NEFF Oven low temp.

Which oven have you got Dick?

Fan motor should run at about 2,800rpm. If it appears to be idling over it will not distrubute heat around the oven correctly.

A multifunction oven will have an element surrounding the fan for assisted cooking and may have elements under the oven floor or in the oven roof for static cooking. The selector switch may allow various combinations of the elements to be used.

Thermostats can go out of adjustment due to loss of gas from the capillary tube, deterioration of the contacts within the stat switch (they arc when they cycle), the capillary getting nipped or kinked, or the probe in the oven box becoming totally coated with oven muck.

Door seals not doing their job properly can lose a surprising amount of heat, hinges not pulling the door shut properly will do the same.

Plenty of things to check…….. 🙂

    Re: NEFF Oven low temp.

    Thanks for all those possibilities.
    The oven is a 1051-2.
As previously stated, the stat is working but seems to be cutting off at too low a tempertaure ie when set to 200C, the heater is cut off when the ovenhas reached only 180C. My reasoning says this cannot be due to a ‘coated’ probe, as this would surely allow too high a temp…but a faulty probe is of course very possible …when buying a replacement stat, do I get the probe itself, or is there a ‘control mechanism’as well?
I’ve just run the fan – it seems too be running quite fast, there’s a fair draught in the oven. Also so freely that it continues for 15-20 seconds after switchoff.
The door sealing seems fine, and again if that was the problem, surely the stat wouldn’t be switching the heater off, as the oven wouldn’t ever be getting hot enough??
Where is the stat sensor, anyway? I’ll give it a clean tomorrow…
    Thanks again.

    Re: NEFF Oven low temp.

    Hi dick
1051-2 isnt the model number Im afraid. On the plate that you got that number will be the correct model. Just type all of it in here and we will extract it.
FYI the thermostat is a complet unit with capillary and probe.

Sorry – I’m a new UKW user – what do you mean ‘will start U1150’ ?!!

The model number Dick, it will be prefixed Enr and start U1150?????

It will be on the same label you found those other numbers 🙂

ok got it – sorry about the confusion
    It says
B1150W 1GB/01 FD 7106 then 9108 (but it really is described as model nr. 1051-2 in the literature that came with it…..!)

    Thanks

ps I’m distracted by the times quoted on this website – surely you’re not an Indian call centre?!!

    Hi Dick
Had similar fault as your today and was the fan motor. Usually the customer will say that teh fan wont start or is sluggish to start, have you had any of those symptoms?

    Circotherm Fan Motor – 084701 – £73.00+VAT BSH pricing.
As for thermostat you need to tell me which knob it corresponds to ie – is it the 1st knob from the right or the 2nd knob from the right ?.

    Cheers

    Re: NEFF Oven low temp.

Fan seems to be up to speed quite quickly although I do notice it’s a bit slow for maybe 5secs then increases to wht seems like a reasonable speed – whirs away and there’s a fair draught coming out the front vents.

It’s the right hand thermostat control – even when turned up to 190C, it switches off ( and cycles on/off satisfactorily) but with an oven temp around 170C or so.

So a faster fan would give me more heat in the oven and therefore a highher temp?…but wouldn’t that just cause the stat to switch off earlier, and leave me with the same problem?
