ParticipantI have a acquired a 2nd hand Bosch S6R25B approx. 3 months ago in supposed full working condition and not having been standing idle for any time. Lately it keeps stopping mid cycle usually sometime in the hot wash. Usually opening the door and closing it, or just power-off/power-on will restart it. Sometimes needs 1 click of programmer, but this may just be impatience. When stuck it makes a gentle buzzing sound, could be pump stuck but dont think so and starts after interuption, or could be water inlet valve?
We only have gravity feed hot water so may be pressure related but worked fine for several weeks. Could try it on cold mains feed if I mod the sink plumbing. This unit replaces a hotpoint version of same machine which seved us well for 16 years. (Hotpoint did not have inlet valve on feed pipe or anti-flood float & pan)
Any suggestions greatfully received. PLUS is there a wiring diagram/manual available to download. I am an industrial electronics man(printers, etc.) so should be able to read them OK.
Many thanks in anticipation.January 22, 2006 at 10:45 pm #161837Simon46

Try the higher pressure cold feed first

Further to Simon’s comments, a modern dishwasher is not designed to be connected to the hot water supply at all – indeed it will help the works get gummed up! Given that this appliance fills in part against time, there is a distinct possibility that insufficient water is entering the machine to allow the heater circuit to operate correctly.
Unless you are a Bosch engineer, the odds on tracking down a circuit diagram or anything other than a spares listing are exactly nil. Sorry about that…….

Interestingly enough your elderly model of dishwasher WILL operate perfectly satisfactorily on a hot water supply. Provided the ‘head’ of water is at least 10 feet and the temperature does not exceed 65 degrees. It is true that the later series of machines are designed for cold water only in many cases, although many will work perfectly OK on a hot supply also.
That apart, I suspect your machine’s inlet/safety valve is the source of the humming noises you experience. It may be due to insufficient pressure and would be worth trying a mains pressure cold feed to confirm.
Replacement inlet/safety valves are readily available but very costly 🙁

many thanks for your incredibley prompt replies.
I shall try cold feed mod but may be some time before further feedback since I shall need to disrupt everything including the kitchen sink!
thanks and best regards. JmacJanuary 23, 2006 at 12:00 pm #161841Simon46

A selfbore plumbing in tap clamped onto pipework may be a quicker test option but these do give a reduced flow and are prone to scaling up eventually causing no flow.
