I have a bendix tumble dryer 545 model and last night i heard a bang, and there was also a strange smell coming from it, it stopped tumbleing at 20 miutes, I tried taking the back of dryer, unfortunately there are 3 screws that are really hard to undo. I did manage to get all the screws off that are around the back frame of the back. Anyway, i had to screw it all back together, then I decided to check fuse in plug (Duh!!) and tested it, it had blown, I put in new fuse, the drum turns but there is now no heat coming out, grrrrrrrr.
I pressed reset button a few times still no luck. Is it the heating element and if so, is this something I can repair myself and also I will need to get the other 3 center screwws out, and boy are they hard.Many thanks Tricia 🙂

Sounds very much like something has burnt on the heater and damaged it, in which case there may be further damage (its possible that a fluff build-up has occured)
I would strongly advise you get a qualified engineer to look at it for you rather than ‘having a go’ yourself.
Have a look in Repairs@ to see if there’s someone local to you?
