ParticipantI have come across this on a few occasions.
Rented accommodation no rotation on a candy. Requires carbon brushes but….the rear panel is missing and the tenant and owner have no idea where it is.
Would you consider it safe to repair as the moving and electrical parts are not accessible when under the worktop, mention the rear panel is missing and recommend it is replaced?
Or
Refuse to repair unless the rear panel is replaced as the machine should have this part fitted to ensure none of the moving/electrical components are accessible when the machine is pulled out?

Moved to the TRADE area by the way 😉
I too have encountered this on 4 occasions where the panels are missing. Bosch, Indesit and Ariston are favourite. Always insist the rear panel is replaced and note your recommendation of safe usage meanwhile if need be. Bearing in mind the hoses can get buggered if you push it against the wall and the drum pulley is fouled.
Wholesalers sell a lot of back panels by the way 🙂

Oops! thought it was in the trade area!

I had considered this too.
I don’t think I will be repairing unless they agree to have the back included in the repair.
Thanks.

also a fire hazard as any accidental combustion would not be contained. I also quite often come across machines with the lids removed to allow for hight due to customer or builder laying tiles . got a local engineering firm that cut me a piece of steel to fit …… and boy dont I let the customer know!!

am sure we all share the concerns expressed regarding missing panels , and the resultant dangers , especially fire . But what about hoover and Candy machines with the chipboard lid . It swells when damp , making it difficult to remove and replace , and would probably act as kindling in a fire . Any comments?

We all love to hate those MDF lids but I’ve yet to come across one that has gone up in smoke?
The later series Bosch back panels are classic C.R.A.P (which is unusual terminolgy used on this brand name I agree) But they are just fixed with one torx screw at the bottom, any pressure placed against that panel and it falls off! Many a time I have found said panel has fallen off and rolled behind the sink unit 🙁
No wonder back panels …dissappear!!!
