Goatboy – this is your chance for your pound of flesh! I know I deserve the abuse – this time!

Having..er, installed my shiny new Miele, there remains a strange, undocumented plastic cover on the door – how is this removed? No part of the install instructions explain what this is or how to safely remove it. It is flimsy plastic that I assume is there to protect the door during transit, but no blurb on this in the book.

    Thank you.

    Ian.

I have no experience of Miele machines, but several machines in the past have had a plastic ‘outer skin’ on the door, particularly washer dryers, this is to prevent a child or anyone else for that matter touching the door glass when it is hot.

If its not in the manual, its supposed to be there I would imagine as Miele are meticulous in information.

    iadom and gegsy

Thank you for your replies. I have concluded it is supposed to be there, but looks a bit flimsy for a permamnent feature.

I believe iadom is correct in suggesting it is to prevent burns (as this is a Washer/Dryer – WT2670).

    Appreciate your help.

    All the best.

And herein lies a very small gripe – this plastic cover does indeed prevent curious fingers from touching the door glass which can get rather hot during the drying cycle.

However, the ventillation holes at the top and bottom allow dust to get in and there’s no way to easily clean it off. The outside glass is starting to look somewhat grotty and that could be a let-down in the looks of the machine.

Does anyone know a way to take off this plastic cover to clean the glass behind it? I must say that my previous Bendix washer-dryer didn’t have this problem as the plastic front was sealed.
