ParticipantHi
This is the large round double heater that fits Philips/W,pool/White Knight etc (ELE3558 Connect).
I had waited 5 or 6 weeks for these to come in at Connect. I fitted the first one to my patient customers machine and turned it on but within 5 mins it had gone to earth and blown the trip 👿 .
I ordered up another and exactly the same happened 👿 👿 .
I am now concerned that Connect have a lot of faulty heaters can anyone indicate if they have experienced the same.
Thanks.
Laurence

Hi Laurence
It might be the time of year/weather causing the problem just like we see on cooker elements….build up of condensation within the element from high humidity and large ambient temperature changes/high humidity (warehouse to customer).
I suspect that if the element is heated for a time without the protection of an earth trip the problem will go away?

Thanks Clive,
Unforunately, in this case the near zero insulation resistance remains.

Could be leaving them in the van parked outside overnight doesn’t help?
If they megger badly before attempting to fit, give ’em a warm-up with a blowtorch 💡

Hi
Not had this problem but just to add; Ive had some of these recently non gen which after fitting come into contact with drum and scrape. The dimensions seem slightly different then genuine, I think thet were from connect. The Kenwood seem to have combatted this by putting an additional triangular standoff on drum bearing faceplate.
Sorry to go off topic but might be useful 😉Greg

Greg, I have had them off Parts Center and they are miss-shaped.
Bit crude, but lie the element on the ground and gently stand on it to flaten it out a bit, I do this to every one I fit as they all seems to catch the drum if you dont.
Similar problem with some of the Hotpoint F/L elements, they are to wide for the opening, sqeeze them up a bit. Hotpoint are buying parts from anywhere now and the quality is a bit lacking.

greg if you look at the fixing bracket you will see its not quite at a right angle pinch the edges together with a pair of grips to correct this and then make sure that the top element is not sitting high (put it on the floor and lean on it)

Had a message from Connect today to say there whole stock was faulty and was being returned.
Delivery date to Connect is 17 Feb. I have been waiting since Dec 2nd for one of these 🙁 .
