ParticipantVisited the above washer and found the element faulty.
Priced the element up at connections.
Pt No – 5031689604260
Cost – £41.92 !!!!!!!!! for a element.
Does anybody know if there is any other element I can fit that doesn’t cost the earth?February 9, 2006 at 10:54 pm #163982johnmac11

I would say you are getting shafted there, element costs 43.28+vat from Whirlpool retail. Looks like you are getting less then 5{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} discount from Connect
Have a word with you rep regarding your discount structure….

EDITED
Please don’t follow this suggestion. Called back to a recall with a flooded floor after one wash!!!
I fitted a Hotpoint 1602026 element to a Whirlpool only yesterday. If it fits and is of equal or lower wattage then I see no problem in fitting a cheaper alternative.

your on my wavelength, why spend £40.00 for something that should be £5.00.
Only problem is the whirlpool element has a temp probe built in.
Time to get the dremel out.February 11, 2006 at 12:01 am #163986Penguin45

No, it has a safety cut-out like all the rest. Temperature contol is by a remote NTC device.

To clarify… the Hotpoint heater has an overtemp cutout built into the body of the element. You can’t see it, but it is there… honest!
The cutout on the whirlpool is the bar connected to the external microswitch. Does the same thing only costs a lot more.

Sorry. Serves me right for assuming without looking up the model number.
Can you transfer the NTC?

WARNING
Sorry lads… don’t do this!… I got a recall today to a flooded floor.
The Hotpoint heater fell out after one wash. The rubber is just not long enough to create a tight seal.Bob
