Hi i wonder if anyone can help me, i took the top of my washing machine to check for a leak, and while the top was off, the the arm that links to the timer was moved.
the arm is the one that is situated on the top of the bit where you put the powder, it is also linked to a valve in the corner of that box.
I would like to know hiow to reset it I.E. with the timer dial on stop, what position should the arm be in.
I think the arm you are referring to probably regulates the direction of water flow to the various soap dispenser compartments. It is probably linked to a cam in front of the timer and behind the timer knob. I don’t see many Whirlpool machines but I think you should be able to work this one out by trial and error. (Water should come in to the correct part of the drawer to wash the powder in when a main wash is selected and to a different compartment for rinse and different again for conditioner rinse). Your instruction manual may help, (under: “where to put the powder”).
Whirlpool would probably send you an exploded diagram if you ring them with your model no. and say you need the info. in order to know what parts to order. This may help with your understanding of the mechanism.
Mike.
Power off whenever doing any work on the machine.(We have to assume that you might have forgotten that!)
Try repairs@ if you get stuck.
