My hotpoint WD420 starts drying at the end of every cycle even though the dryer function is selected off and when you do use the dryer the timer doesn’t work it just keeps drying indefinately.

looks like the drier timer has failed and could need replacing.as its electrial component maybee time to call an engineer. repairs@

Thanks mate. I assume the timer is the plastic item operated by the dial thats clipped to the printed circuit board.

On closer inspection looks like the timer is part of the circuit board, is this correct? and if so any idea of the cost?

Over £70.00 + vat. I would not risk fitting that yourself, your machine is under 5 years old and as such is covered by Hotpoint’s 5 year parts warranty, they will charge you just under £90.00 to fit and you will not pay for any parts. You may buy and fit one and still not cure the fault which could be linked to the main module.
