ParticipantHelp – i have a hotpoint tdc62 which is not getting hot so not drying.
It was working fine for a while yesterday. I’ve done all the usual things like clean the filter, condenser, empty the water container, and hoped it would be ok the next day.
It seems to think that it’s working because the drying light is coming on while it’s tumbling – but there is no heat so clothes aren’t drying.
hope someone can tell me how to diagnose and then fix the problem.
I need to tumble every day and am desperate as I have a baby in cotton nappies, and a bloke who creates washing like a football team!
PS it is less than 3yrs old, and was bought new.

Most common cause of this is the thermostats above the heater. You need electrical test equipment to check properly. Please remove the plug before opening the machine up, or have a look in Repairs@ by clicking the link in my sig to see if we have someone in your area.
There are several other possible causes, other than the electronic control module they are mainly fairly inexpensive to repair.February 17, 2006 at 10:34 am #166047lovellypink

Hi, and thanks for this. I think this sounds likely – possibly brought on by the door being opened mid cycle?
Is this something that I can easily fit myself?

We can sell you any parts that you need, but first we need a correct diagnosic of the problem.
You don’t want to be buying spares that you don’t need 😕

That is something only you can really answer, 😉 considered a very simple repair by people with the required skills and experience.
As GB has reiterated, get it tested with proper equipment. The parts are available in the Shop@ . If you do diagnose faulty stats then make sure you handle the replacements with care.
Plug out at all times. :zap:
