Like pip9 who posted to this forum on July 04, 2005, I am looking for a door to the freezer compartment of my FAB28 fridge.
Like pip9 I have been quoted an absurd price by Smeg; in this case £106.68 for the door (part 696133684) together with clips and catch (parts 931330798 763850173) which I don’t need, as only the door is faulty.
Replies to pip9 mentioned alternative (and much cheaper) sources for this spare. One was Expertcare, who I can’t trace, not on the web anyway. The other was Gorenje, who actually manufactured this model. They tell me: ‘Whilst Gorenje manufacture this appliance for Smeg, it is themselves who carry spares for their products. I would therefore ask you to ring the Smeg service telephone number which can be found on their website.’
Can anyone help me get this spare other than paying Smeg a lot of money?

can you send me the ART number that is on your rating plate ?it should be next to the model and serial number.

Can you also let us have the serial number for this appliance. It is manufactured by Gorenje for Smeg and there are two versions dependent on the date of manufacture. If you let Bryan have the serial number he can source the correct one for you. Good luck – Ian

The plate on the back of the fridge (where I found the ART number) says: ‘Serie No 112110032’. It also says ‘Modello S28STRP3’ and ‘Made in Slovenia’.
The Smeg sticker inside the fridge (near the salad compartment) says ‘S/N8205126’. Here the model number is given as FAB28P3, and it says ‘Made in Italy’
