Looking for some expert help please – two questions

Smeg double oven model SP 7800 D (upper oven is the Main oven)

Q1. Can anyone advise where I can purchase a replacement single grill element for the upper main oven ❓

Tried Smeg (Servevast), very disappointed after they sent wrong part & were ready to send another wrong part then admitted Smeg no longer make/supply the single grill element for my oven because it was too old (10 years)! 🙁

Grill element is 2500W with a flanged terminal that bolts on to oven rear wall.

Q2. Does removing grill element prevent oven element from working ❓
How do I test if oven element is OK (no sign of damage) ❓

Live (red) from Main Oven control switch terminal is a common feed to both the oven & grill heat elements (feed goes first to oven element then branches to grill element).
Grill element has its own return (grey), oven element has its own return (white), both go to their individual terminals on the Main Oven control switch unit.

After removing damaged (blown wall) grill element I fully insulated loose ends of both live (red) & return (grey) associated with grill element.
Switched power back on, main oven fan, oven lamp & oven thermostat lamp all work but there is no heat from the oven element (2600W loop type) 😥

Circuit looks like power to the oven element is shut off when turning the Main Oven control switch (a) off (b) temperature set is reached (thermostat) or (c) to grill operation position.
Assume when switch is in oven heating position control unit rocker arm switching closes (connects) oven element return (white) & opens (disconnects) the grill element return (grey) this to ensure main oven load max 2.6kW is not exceeded?

    Thanks for any help

    Re: Smeg grill element blown

Info update not sure if it helps?

Part quoted (purchased & refunded) was No. 806890278 turned out to be a grill double element having a flange 150x20mm with bolthole centres at 135mm
Second part quoted was No. 806890189 once again a grill double element?
Both parts were probably over rated (kW) 😯 & physically too large to fit flange aperture on oven rear wall

Required grill single element has flange approx 70x20mm with bolthole centres at 57mm

Have you got or can you get a photo of the element? This would help enormously in sourcing a suitable alternative.

    Hi kwatt

Apologies for daft question: now have a photo of the element, but how (if possible) do I insert or post the photo on this site? Or do you mean I should e-mail you the photo?

    Regards
