ParticipantBosch SGS4442GB Excel dishwasher.
Following a blockage in the sink waste trap (now cleared) my dishwasher no longer empties. The impeller is free but I can’t work out how to access the pump to change it or to look for an internal blockage. Presumably through the bottom of the machine but I can’t see how to remove the base cover. Help!!
PS The machine still heats up the water and pumps it around but won’t empty.February 21, 2006 at 4:02 pm #166370Martin

There is a clear guide on pump access in your ‘User Instruction Booklet’. However, access via removal of the filters, then unscrew the TX20 screw to the pump cover adjacent the lowest point of the tub (on the left as you look at it) 😉
Lift the cover clear to access the pump impellor. (Be careful in case its broken glass that stopped it?)

I’ve already checked the impeller and it rotates freely, so now I want to get access to the pump itself and the pipework inside the machine. How to I do this?

If you set the machine to the start of any programme, the pump should run for a few seconds. If you open the door real quick at that point you should spot the impellor rotating?
Alongside the pump impellor is a BLACK gasket, remove that with a part of pliers (tweezers even) then clean and replace before re-fitting the pump cover. By the way, the machine will NOT drain with the impellor cover OFF! 😉

Ohh crap!
Why did I not find this site a bit earlier… 🙄My Bosch has been standing still for about a year now. I just haven’t had the time or the money to fix it. I have disassembled it and thought the pump was broken, since it didn’t empty after running the program.
This week I finally ordered a new pump from Denmark. Got it in the mail today. BUT – before i replaced it, I thougth – “is it really the pump…? Didn’t I see it stir the water around a bit…?”
So I searched for info and “exploded views” and stuff… Found none in swedish. Ended up here and read your excellent answer. So I tried mounting that impellor cover – and it worked! 😯 😆
I suppose there was just some dirt in the way, which I removed the first time I tried to fix it – about a year ago!!So now it seems to work, and I can spend the time riding my motorcycle in this beautiful weather instead!
So – thank’s a lot!! I got a new bookmark in my browser, for troubleshooting. :worthy:
Have a nice weekend!
Regards from Sunny Sweden! 😀
EDIT: Ohh… By the way… We’ll kick your butts in Germany this Tuesday! 😈
