Hi I’m back and almost feel like I’ve gone back to square one after reading a lot of the advice here. Don’t get me wrong – I welcome it.

What I’ve certainly learned it that easy to make the wrong decision when buying a washing machine. The average consumer (like myself) would almost certainly think; “well a washing machine is a washing machine isn’t it? What differences can you get in them?” WRONG! From what I’ve gleaned from these forums, some are washing machines and some are wash basins with motors attached.

Anyway, I’ve set my budget at around £1500. But, I have space considerations. My current washing machine (Zanussi – still working after 10 years, but I’m replacing before it breaks) is 52cm deep. I reckon I can I manage 55cm *maybe* squeeze in 56.

So Miele is out 😥 as it won’t support my own furniture door.
Siemens is out 🙁 as it’s too deep.
Smeg spins too fast at 1600 which could result unreliable 😕 (according to goatboy whom I trust). Shame as they claim to have a self-cleaning filter and pump 😉
CDA has been suggested but to be honest with you they just look cheap and nasty.
Also, I have to forget the cheap machines because get what you pay for 😯

So, I’ve narrowed it down now to 3 machines which I believe would suit:

    a) AEG L14710VIT. They’re ok (goatboy again).
    b) Zanussi ZJD12191. Looks good. Have had a good experience with my existing one.
    c) Bosch WVTi2840GB – except I cannot for the life of me get the dimensions of this machine. Can anyone help?

Any comments on my choices are most welcome. And I’d appreciate any suggestions as well.

    Once again, thank you all

    Laurence.

The Bosch measurements according to their spec and installation guide is 584mm deep however there is a skirting cut out for pipes etc which is 150mm high, however it does not state how far it cuts into machine. if you can get it to fit then it is the better of the three options. Might be an idea if you can see one in the flesh so to speak. Same stable as Neff / Siemens, so two year guarantee and a good backup service available. If the Bosch does not fit then AEG would be my next choice.

Wow! 😯 That’ll be my new signiture 😆

I’d say make the Siemens fit, or make the door fit on the Miele!

    😕

If not, I’d go for the AEG!
