Done the course, got no experience
friends machine tripped mcb which she reset tried to use again, door locks, light on etc but nothing else happens. Found Module with burned out connection, repaired by QER who suggest motor caused problem. Couldn’t find any fault, she wanted machine back so fitted board and everything OK. 15 washes later electrics trip again, same symptoms except board still sound. any help gratefully recieved

Check the tub seal for leaks on to the motor 😉

    That’s not unheard of.

Have you done an insulation test between armature and earth? Common to have armature failure on Zanussi especially when motors are hot. Take off the brushes and look closely at the armature for signs of shorting and ‘rainbow’ blue and purple coloured overheating marks on the com. Also check the tacho magnet is tight (so machine doesn’t try to launch into spin full of water – another common problem). Worn or very ‘carbon dusty’ brushes can cause a trip situation – worth swapping suspect ones with new for a trial. If motor checks out o.k, worth insulation testing the heater – really apart from leaks the only other cause of trips popping. I have had an interlock throw the trip but only once and this didn’t affect the motor or the pcb.
