My tumble dryer has all of a sudden stopped spinning the power light comes on but when i turn the timer nothing happens except when i open the door i can smell a burning and behind the back of the drum is red hot. Could anyone tell me what this is and what i need to get to fix this problem. I Am very good at fixing things so would not have a problem fitting new parts i just need to know what parts. I removed the back plate and found the frame that covers the fan was rusted through i would not of thought that should be like that as the dryer is only 18months old. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks ❓

    check the motor?

The ‘burning’ smell and red hot drum will be the element!

how do i check if the motor is working and does anyone know were i can get another motor from. There is no sound of a motor running just as soon as i turn the timer the element behind the drum goes red. and a smell of burning comes, not good i know but there is not a lot to a tumble dryer so if someone can point me in the right direction i think i would be able to replace anything thta needs replaced. Thanks in advance

Your appliance has a capacitor start/run motor. This uses a capacitor to effectively “kick” the motor into life – it does wear out. The motor itself can (and does) fail. The rear shaft of the drum fails, allowing the drum to drop and jam solid. Access to the motor involves removing the drum, truly a demolition job.

If you’re not sure how to proceed, you must get pro help – click the link below for an engineer in your area.

    Power off if investigating further.
