Bit tricky without the model number……..
Still – older Hotpoints will stop if the motor is not running. They will stop if the water doesn’t go at a spin position. And it will stop if it’s waiting for water.
So, model number please 😀 .

hi its a wm 51,
the motor works and it does fill up properly just when it gets to the first rinse it then stops.
then if you give it 1 click after it stops it carries on again perfect until the last rinse,
i think its crazy like my wife lol
thanks very much

OK, valve seems a good bet – 161186, an email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will get one moving for you. Ideally you should check the coils for a circuit first, otherwise it’s just an educated guess.
Power off, of course.

thanks penguin.
but if i check with meter i get a circuit on all 3 coils.
and if i turn water off 1 at a time, all valves hum???
does this mean there working?
it is a seven year old machine and they have never been changed unlike the motor and brushes.

If the valves are humming, the solenoids are activating and water should flow. The Eton type valves can although it’s quite rare, open and only allow water to trickle through. Worth checking to see if the actual taps are opening properly – the blue and red tags wear internally and don’t allow the taps to be opened fully.
