ParticipantMy Baumatic BDW 13 integrated dishwasher shows an E4 error upon power up, the drain pump also runs constantly for 30 secs or so. The tub is empty and no water is present in the sump below the filter. The last program used was a soak pre rinse.
How can I clear this code and get the machine to run again. I can not see any evidence of an overfill or leak. Machine is only 8 months old.
Many thanks.March 24, 2006 at 1:18 pm #169092robdray

With the fault code E4 showing water has, on occasions been found to be in the base of the machine … although it is entirely up to you if you choose to try this, a method of clearing the fault has been to tip the machine to one side to try and drain any excess water away … but unplug it 1st please … and i repeat that this is your own decision if you choose to try this method …

The following worked for me – but it took 4 days!
UNPLUG THE MACHINE!!
Undo the salt dispenser lid and remove the filters.
Using a cloth – dip it into every conceivable “nook and crannie” to get out as much water as possible (the pump gets it out of the filter drain).
A small syphon may work better on the water in the salt dispenser.
I tried to keep the door open as much as possible – basically to get rid of any water by evaporation etc.
I turned it on each day to see whether the error had gone.
Today it had – no service fee involved – but had to do the washing up by hand for 4 days.
The people on the technical help line were insistent that this could only be fixed by a technician.
Hope this helps someone else.

READ ALL BEFORE YOU ATTEMPT THIS SO IT DOES NOT GO WRONG
What I did is
put a towel in the salt despenser to drain all the water out (or as near as damn it)
then switch it on and wait till it gurgles
then put a small cup of water down the gurgling drain
leave it switched on for a few seconds then turn it off
turn it back on and problem solved.
it took about 10 min and saved £75

oh i love this place
reading some of these posts cheers me up and makes me realise that my jobs gotta be safe
4 days to fix a dishwasher? only takes 2 hours to drop off a production line!
ill humour these people
if you wanna stop one of these dishwashers going into error 4 mode, stop usin those silly 3 – in – 1 powerball things
even beaumatic admit they foam up too much at times and lead to antiflood.. it only worked after four days cos the water evaporated from the base, not cos u arsed on with non existent filters
i wish i was so smart

Correct – a message we spread regularly, not just with regard to nasty Chinese dishwashers, and not just because of foaming issues. Just getting the damn things to activate can take most of the hot wash cycle! Fairy Bursts are “in” at the moment due to instant activation and low froth – if you want truly accurate control of dosage, nothing beats powder and rinse aid.
