    Hi, hope someone can help me, I have an Electrolux Premiere oven, and just recently it has had a big drop in temperature. I have added a analogue thermometer (as a guide) and it would appear that at full temp 250 degrees on the dial, the oven is only getting to about 120 degrees. Sunday lunch needs to be started on Saturday 🙁

    What I suspect is the thermostat but how can I test it??? can a resistance test be performed???

    Any help is apprieciated.

    Possibly an element or thermostat failure.

    Model number please for further help 🙂

    does the temperature light on the facia (control) panel go out?
    this light is linked to the thermostat and goes out when the stat switches off (ie oven has reached correct temp).
    if the light is not going out it indicates an element or fan/motor (if it has one) problem.
    if light goes out at incorrect temp indicates thermostat problem.

    Hey guys, Sorry for the lack of info about the oven!! Duh I thought the model was a PREMIERE (as in ford FIESTA) damn I should stick with cars!!

    Okay have the info needed now model is EK 5731 GR and the make is Electrolux.

    Yes the temperature indicator light does go on and off, hence I suspected the stat, however I was not sure if maybe the dial may have been at fault.

    Are stats expensive?? can they be a pig to fit??

    Dual fuel (gas top) could be difficult to do and again not for the fainthearted. I would suggest looking on the repairs @ on this site to find someone in you area who is prepared perhaps to give you a quote for this repair..The stat itself should be available for around £20.00ish

    Cheers Dave, It may sound like I’m a cheapstake but is fitting a stat that difficult??

    I have repaired TV’s, Video’s, Mobile Phones, Car radio’s, Head gasket repairs on cars and most other mechanics on them too, I just have not done a cooker yet.

    Don’t worry I wont hold you to it, if it all went belly up, I understand that some people would ask and not know what a screwdriver is!!!

    I’ve had a look on this site but can’t find Electrolux stats, any Idea’s.

    To identify the correct thermostat I’ll need the product code please, starting 947???? from the rating plate. There’s quite a few versions of this one.

    Hi Dave, cheers for the help the product number is 947750056 serial number if needed is 03623400.

    Is it likely to be fairly straight forward to fit?

    Part number 3581907403 at £15.43 inc VAT plus carriage so not too bad on price.

    As far as fitting goes, I would ask an engineer to be honest, as mentioned it has a gas hob and may require gas tight connections to be disturbed to gain access so legally only a Corgi registered engineer can repair.
