ParticipantModel No. KGU3200GB & FD number is FD7502. About 12 years old.
Overnight the freezer rose to -12C but by the time I got up it was back to -18C – however during the day the fridge temp has started to rise (from 4C) to about 11C now and has been like that for about 8 hours.
Have put the super freeze on the freezer but it doesnt get any cooler. The whole unit seems very quiet. No motor running. All that happens if I depower the whole unit is a ‘clunk’ noise on switch on (like a solenoid or valve closing/opening).
Anyone any ideas what could be wrong? (Is this the infamous defrost circuitry?)
If so where is the circuit board located and how do I get access to it?
Is it worth repairing? Any ideas of cost?

Hi
Without doing any checks myself, it sounds like the PCB (situated in top of fascia) part number 263782, around the £100 mark and will need Vat and p&p added. Use link below to locate.Greg

GregSo to get the board out does the top come off or is it a remove the main door then the face plate comes off?

2 screws hold top fascia, remove;and PCB is the one horizontally situated facing you. It just pulls out , no wire 😀

OK further info – switched fridge back on over night and internal temp dropped from 21C (room temp) to 10C but no lower.
Also if I switch off super freeze then the freezer temp starts to rise in the freezer compartement from -18C to -15C according to the display on the front.
Mind you it doesn’t seem very cold in there and my digital thermometer says it’s only -3C.
Seem to remember when I first got it something similar happened (done under guarantee) and involved changing a solenoid and re-pressurising the refrigerant!
So apart from the PCB what else could it possibly be?
Reason I ask is at £116 for just the board (and it might not be….) it’s temping to buy a new similar model (this time Siemens KG32U123GB) for only £250 more.
Don’t suppose there is any diagnostic routine I can put the fridge in to give me some kind of additional clues as to what IT thinks isn’t working. (As you can do with other white goods?)

Hi
Like I said without seeing the appliance impssible to tell.
You could always use the engineer link below and get the PCB conmfirmed as faulty. These f/f have a good lifespan and quality, seemms a shame to write it off.Greg
