Above dishwasher finished cycle normally, but dishes were a bit dirty then I noticed plates also slightly wet and cold, so my first thought is the heater has not operated. Is this faulty heater, or possibly circuit board? I am handy with multimeter and soldering iron so can diagnose if I know what to look for. I have pressed the reset buttons, machine pumps for 30sec with 0 on display then stops normally. Has generally been reliable, no other faults over (6+?) years.

    Full model no is SGS5312GB/12

Thanks for the pointer, will have a look asap. For info I have tried running a quick wash cycle, three hours later it is still on the final rinse cycle, I guess this is caused by the lack of heating.

Also check heater and under wash conditions, the activation of the heater microswitch.

    Re: Bosch SGS5312GB Not Heating

I have found and fixed a burnt out joint to a relay on the pcb. Hoping this was the problem. Putting the door back together there are two large plastic jobbies that seemed to sit in the main body of the machine right at the base of the door, can’t for the life of me work out how they are supposed to go in without jamming the door as it opens, any ideas please?

They are fitted to the hinge, narrow part on the inside , hope this helps, by the way they do add stength to the door.

    Re: Bosch SGS5312GB Not Heating

Having no luck with the plastic hinge things, don’t suppose there are any diagrams available anywhere? Otherwise will have to hope the door survives without. Will try the machine tomorrow for heating and post the result. I have taken some photos of the burned out joint on the board, would it be useful if I posted it up? If so where?

Thanks for your help, assuming the repair works this has saved me a lot of hassle!

    Ever seen generation game 😆
These will slot in left and right of door just above door well. Will be obvious when you get one in, no hassle really.

    hi

if you goto http://www.bshappliancecare.com then click on spare parts and click on the quickfinder application it will let you type in the model number and then look at expolded diagrams of machines. this should allow you to look at how the plastic pieces go back on the hinge.

i would not recomend soldering the dry joint up to fix the board. i would purchase a new one.

    Why not?
Its just the depletion of solder because of small pad that has made it overheat and cause fault. Cleaning up the joint and re soldering is a more than adequate repair. Done loads in 10 years, why waste a perfectly good board and throw money away.

    Hi
Not heard of that happening and can’t see how either. Even if relay had stuck “on” the thermal protection on heater unit would kick in.
Was it pcb that caught fire do you know?

Not possible my friend, you heard wrong. Resoldering is a realistic worthwhile repair, including a small wire ‘bridge’ link is also a better option 😉

    Re: Bosch SGS5312GB Not Heating

Interesting debate. I guess the joint is under-dimensioned for the current flowing which is why this happened in the first place, all the other joints look really good. Anyway I have resoldered and pleased to report the machine works fine now. If the solder joint eventually fails the worst that can happen is a repeat of the problem ie joint burns out and connection is lost so heater stops and in 5 years time I get my soldering iron out again.

    Thanks for your help.
