Dishwasher appears to start OK but water never enters and therfore dial does not move. Check water on and inlet filter free, Cleaned fine and coarse filters, checked pump free but no go. Does anyone have a clue as what to try next or is it time to call in the specialists!!!

Would be very grateful for any assistance[/code]

There are no electronics in this machine, therefore no error codes.

Interested to know how you ‘checked the pump’, do you mean the circulation pump/motor, or the drain pump?

When it should be filling, can you hear a faint buzzing noise?

Quite a difficult machine to access but a common fault is an internal hose blockage that you can get at after removing the door, and lower front panel. please remove plug if you intend to proceed or click on the link in my sig for expert attention.

Thanks for your speedy response. I checked the Drainage pump for any blockage, it appeared to turn OK. If it helps to understand my problem I recently moved and the dishwasher was connected up last Friday. I used it ok on Saturday night but it would not work on Sunday. I pulled out the machine and noticed a severe kink in the drainage hose where it had been flattened/trapped this i straightened and cleared.
When i switch on the machine it makes the normal noises which changes if you turn the dial around manually but I would not describe them as faint buzzing noise. It sounds as though water is going in but it is dry inside.
Unscrewed inside of door but I was unable to remove?

A bit puzzled here, to access the ‘drain’ pump correctly, you need to remove the outer door panel and the lower kickstrip, plus another galvanised backplate.?????

Also the drainage pump should not turn easily, it should flick round in 90° increments.

Unless you have kinked the fill hose as well, I think it is time to call on the experts. 😉

I assume you checked the pump by removing the small torx screw inside the dishwasher and lifting out the cover.

Yes I checked the pump the way you have indicated and it does turn as you have stated. Fill hose was definitely not kinked
Thank you for your kind assistance and i will take your advice and call in the experts

Thanks to ladom for sensible response. Machine manufacture ceased before 2000.

I have this problem with an early df62. Does a thermostat move the timer on when water has reached temperature, or is wash circulation timed? I assumed the former, but then the cycle would not complete. Machine is circulating well, so what is likely issue? Failed element or t/s?

Re: Hotpoint Aquarius DF62 will not take in water

There is a thermostat to control the advance of programme during wash but failure of this is not very common. A failed stat would not stop the machine from heating but a faulty heater, timer contacts failing or broken wiring in the door harness near the left hand hinge would.

The heater unit is extremely expensive and very difficult to change involving a major strip down.

Heater terminals can be tested by removing the right hand ( from front ) side panel, after removing the mains plug of course.
