Sorry to bring this one up again but having read most of the previous posts I wanted to be clear that my problem was the same as previous ones.

The machine is about 8 years old and has just started to show high fridge temperatures (up to 25°C) but no problem with the freezer compartment. I called a local engineer (fro mthe Yellow Pages – didn’t know about UK Whitegoods then!) who replaced the thermostat and this worked for about two weeks but it’s started happening again.

There is no pattern to why the temperature display goes up but it comes back down again just as randomly.

Before and after calling the engineer I noticed that the area of the fridge around light was sometimes getting quite hot and this stopped when I removed the bulb. I also sometimes hear a buzzing sound from behind the digital display which also comes and goes at random.

From previous postings it seems like it’s the thermistors but not having a clue about refridgeration Iwanted to be sure before I get the guy back to fix it for free.

One iother question – even though sometimes the display shows a high temperature the contents still seem cooler than the °C shown – can the problem with the thermistors sometimes just eb that it gives a false reading (don’t want to chuck out food if I don’t have to!)?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Rockraider

please reinstall the interior bulb and check that it goes out when you close the door, the fridge door can become out of alignment and drop just enough to keep the light on but sometimes it it works correctly, the switch also controls the fan which blows the air into the fridge and so your problems returns intermitantly, simple adjustment of the door hinge cures the fault.

    Bob.

    Bob,

Thanks for the advice – just checked and there’s nothing wrong with the door alignment as when I put the bulb back in the light goes off with the door still slightly ajar so I don’t think that’s the problem.
