Can someone steer me in the right direction. My tumble dryer finds it hard work to turn the drum, even with a half load. It stops midway through a cycle I think because it’s too hot (is this normal) and it wont turn again unless the load is distributed to one particular side. When I first got this machine the load was always dry when the cycle finished but now it seems to require two cycles for the load to be dry. Is there any hope for this one or should I think of replacing it.

    You need one of these:

It effectively kicks the motor into life and they do fail over time.

Power off if investigating further yourself.

….but worth checking first to see how difficult it is to turn the drum by hand.

I have had a few where the front drum bearing wears (simple felt collar type) allowing fluff to get forced into the bearing and jamming the drum.

If thats the case a short term fix is to clean the bearing, but replacing it is better.

Thanks for the tips, I will try both and see if they work. 😀

Thanks cj &p45 both hints were correct. One new condenser and and a clean bearing = a machine that works as good as new. Thanks again for your help. Total cost of repair – £5.99 + 1 hour of my time (no call out charge) – happy days.
