Help please, I have a Scandinova fridge model LF6-86S this is an upright fridge in silver with a bow front, yesterday it started making a lound running noise, I took the front kick plate off and reached back and gave the compressor a little shake but that had no effect, then decided to reset it so turned it off for an hour then back on,,, the loud noise resumed but a couple of hours later it was silent again, and much to my dispare it was again humming/buzzing loudly this morning. The cold plate inside at the back seems to be nice and cold and for all purposes its working fine aside from the horrid noise have you any ideas on how to solve this please regards rob

    Re: Scandinova Fridge loud noise

I don’t think anyone has any information on this model hence the lack of response 😉

Is this a built in fridge, a fridge/freezer, frost free (if it has a freezer) first of all ?

It may be either the compressor itself, the cooling fan motor, the air circulation motor (if frost free).

Hopefully we can narrow it down a bit from there 🙂

    Dave.

This a fridge only with no freezer, its not built in but free standing. it is supposed to be frost free. Thanks dave for any light you can shed regards rob

    Re: Scandinova Fridge loud noise

It’s almost certainly the compressor then in that case. On a freestanding fridge it would be an uneconomical repair to replace to be honest (circa £150).

If you do need confirmation an engineer’s visit is the only sure way, the reapirs@ link below should provide one 🙂

It may of course run perfectly as far as cooling goes for some time but will eventually fail completely.

    Dave.
