ParticipantThe machine is old so I guess I shouldn’t be too surprise that it’s failing but there’s nothing else wrong with it and its worked faultlessly so far.
Here’s the deal. When started it fills and washes as normal but then stops about 1/3 of the way through the rinse cycle. If I jog the program wheel on a bit, it pumps out but does not finish the rinse cycle. Also, one it’s done this it then will not start a new wash cycle correctly. What it then does is pumps out get’s ready to stat and right at the point where the fill should occur, everything stops. It will then stay like this unless left turned off for a long time (say overnight) by which time it will then fill again and wash OK – but still stop during the rinse.
It seems as if everything is linked to the inability to fill.
I have quickly checked that I don’t have a dodgy wire under the door (the hinge point) and all that seems OK. So before I pull it all out and start poking about, has anyone any ideas what the problem might be? Diagnosis would be so much easier with a wiring diagram 🙂 I’m guessing there is a switch/sensor somewhere that has not been set or reset that’s blocking the fill signal going to the solenoid. I think it’s pumping out fully but until I take a more detailed look can’t be certain – looks OK from the inside though.
Many thanks – any clue welcome.

It’s probably a blockage in the hose from the fill matrix to the tub sump moulding causing the shut-off safety device on the inlet valve to operate.
Power off when investigating.

Thanks for that. I’ll check shortly. Is this hose underneath or around the back?
Cheers

It’s an internal hose that needs checking. (Expert help via link below 😉 )

I’m impressed with the diagnosis – relax, not sorted yet but having taken the unit out of the hole it hides in (what a pain in the ? – we had the floor tiled with ceramics a few years ago and the tiles don’t go right under the washer – thus, getting it out is painful because you cannot reach the rear legs to adjust them!!!! 👿 – sorted now mind. Guess who will put some more tiles underneath?)
Back to the dishwasher. It will doubtless come as no surprise that the base pan is swimming in water and thus I’m guessing that the disc arrangement near the front of the washer, in the base is the safety overfill switch. Glad that works then!
I’ll have a little look to see if I can tell where the water is coming from and then I expect to shout for an expert – i.e. not me!Thanks

Guys
Thank you very much. The unit is still undergoing a wash cycle now (empty but it’s the water I’m after) and so far, all seems well. Judging by the residue marks in the base tray and on the framework, it appears as if water has been ejected from the small hole in the filler matrix which over time has collected in the base tray and tripped the overflow switch. The only reason I could attribute to this was the gunk that came out of the black hose connecting the base of the filler matrix to the sump. Not sure there was enough to block it but I’d guess there was enough to restrict flow.
Here’s hoping that I don’t get a further leak!
Many thanks again
Paul.
