ParticipantHello all, great site, for my first post a question, I joined the site last week after finding a thread that described exactly the behaviour of my washing machine, which was, Indesit WG 1234T with a drum not rotating at any point during the wash cycle, the problem suggested in the thread that I had read was a burnt contact on the motor module circuit board, I had a look at the module and was delighted to find that this was indeed exactly what had happened, I took the module to an electronics engineer friend who kindly laid a tiny touch of fresh solder onto the board edge where the connector sits, I then refitted the module, connected the Two plugs and did a quick test (Manually turning the programmer to various points) to see if the drum would rotate and was highly delighted when it did, problem solved (Or so I thought) so I stuck some laundry in and went of out with a smile on my face!!!, however when I came back the wash cycle had not completed and was stuck at a certain point and accompanied by the familiar electrical buzzing/hum of something thats trying to run but cannot, if I turn the programmer a touch the cycle will continue, so guys PLEASE help me out, what in you opinion/s could be/is the problem, is there something else wrong with the motor module or should I now be looking elsewhere (Programmer) Sorry for the long post but I always try to include as much info as possible when asking for help in solving a problem, any help/replies/suggestions will be much appreciated, Thanks and Regards, Soulman.

At what point on cycle is programme sticking? Start of rinses? Can you locate the area of the machine where the hum is coming from? I’m still wondering if you’re getting water coming in at each point where it should.
Water valves hum gently when they’re getting no water.

Mike could be correct, It is worth checking that you actually have water coming out of the hoses. If you have the small red & blue plastic taps, and you turned them off to repair the machine, it is possible that a tap has stuck in the closed position even though the plastic bit turns. It is a very common fault.

Ok guys, thanks for the replies so far, what appears to be happening is that once set, the programmer will progress from wherever you initially start it from and continue only up till the next number on the cycle then stop, ie if you set the programmer at number 4 it will continue onto number 5 and then stop (You can then hear the hum/buzz I mentioned in my initial post) if you then manually turn thr programmer a touch as if to help it on it’s way it will continue onto number 6 then stop again and so on untill the end of the cycle, it does not seem to matter how short or long the cycle is between numbers it will just stop at each number throughout the cycle, any ideas guys, please help, I’m relying on you, thanks and regards, Soulman.

Have you checked the filter out. That can also make a huming noise if someting is stuck in it or the filter.Sometimes you will get it pumps the water out,but very slowly.Stopping at each number gives me the idea it has got something to do with draining water, cause it pumps water out almost every cycle to get fresh water in.But the best idea is to get an engineer out if the filter or drain hose is not blocked.
Cheers.

Filter, pump, pressure switch, all hoses, motor brushes, water supply and electrical connections already cleaned / checked before submitting orignal (First) post, I don’t know why (As I’m not a washing machine engineer) I just have this feeling that there is something amiss either with the programmer (Possibly caused by the original problem of the burnt contact on the motor module) or there is a further problem with the motor module, just hoping you guys in the know/with experience maybe could either tell me I’m totally wrong and point me in the right direction or agree with me, either way at least I’ll be able to decide on the next move, thanks and regards, Soulman.

Unfortunately most of it is bad experience, 😥 If you look at the high number of posts about recent Hotpoint machines, together with the Indesit/Ariston machines, then consider that they now have Indesit electronics in them it will give you some idea of the problem we have in advising you. The small timer itself can suffer, usually burnt contacts, the module itself could have another fault.
This model range is not noted for its reliability/longevity unfortunately.
The engineers from the Indesit company have specialist software on their company issue laptops to aid fault finding that is unavailable to the independent trade, thus making diagnosis of uncommon faults very difficult, even for the so called ‘experts’. -
