ParticipantHad a problem with this oven, Electrolux Premiere, model is EK 5731 GR product number is 947750056 serial number is 03623400
First of all it would not reach temp, which I wrongly suspected the thermostat, anyhow I fitted the new stat, which appears to switch on and off a lot better than the old one, but oven was still only reaching half temp.
On further investigation I found that the lower element was hardly working at all, so now that is on order.
However last night I went to use the grill, (the oven switches on first then the grill comes on), the mains light came on but now the temp light does not, and the grill wont heat. I.E has the new stat blown the oven all together. Or do I have a faulty switch???
Any thoughts.

Possibly the selector switch has been damaged by the base element blowing (assuming it has) or the selector switch may have been the problem all along.
Normally these can be visually checked for burnt contacts (with the power off ).

Selector switch is p/no 50170086-00/8, about £16 plus the VAT + P&P. Looks like an order part, so 5-7 days is likely.

Well, given what you’ve already replaced and ordered, there isn’t much left 😉

This may solve your mystery !!! Having disconnnected from the mains supply, check the back of the cooker, and on the left , near the top, you may find a control shaft poking through a plate. This is the overheat thermostat, which is a variable thermostat, and the preset temperature is detrermined by the position of the d shaft through the fixing plate. If the control has been fitted incorrectly, ie, 180 degrees out, then if the oven temperature is set higher that approximately 150 degrees, it will cycle on this thermostat. Therefore the max oven temperature will be 150 degrees C + or – the tolerence. The answer is, remove the thermostat, turn the shaft 180 degrees, not the control, and refit. (It will only go to 180 degrees in one direction). Refit, and test, all should be ok/

The part you describe is not fitted to this appliance.
