I have a Whirlpool G2P DWS which has suddenly developed a fault. It is around 4.1/2 years old. Whatever programme I select, the machine only runs a cold water cycle(like a prewash/rinse cycle). Also instead of taking a couple of hours or to do a wash, the programme knob spins round quickly back to zero in a few minutes & makes a buzzing/clicking sound which continues at the end of the cycle when the machine has stopped. The tablet door opens ok. There is no flashing light or beeping. Any ideas please?

If you go to forum search here:

    http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … ile=search

Select the dishwasher support forum from the drop down and search for “NTC” (without the quotes), the pick out all the Whirlpool and Diplomat threads, you’ll find the answers there 😀

The most likely part is an NTC failure which is here:

    http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … cts_id=476

Power off if checking yourself please or check the repairs@ link below if you need an engineer.

Thanks. Do you or anyone else know where the NTC is situated in this machine & how easy is it to change?

Please read the posts as I suggested, you’ll find the information you need there, this fault is documented many times 😉

Re: Whirlpool G2P DWS COLD ONLY?

The saga continues. First of all I would mention that fault occured after I set the eco button from 50′ to 65′ before I ran the 1st failed wash. Anyway I called a local (proper) firm out to look at it with a £61inc call out charge. The engineer checked the element ok & said it is the ntc feeler. After a wait of nearly 3 weeks for the part the engineer came back & fitted it. After running the machine it was still the same (cold only & the control knob cycling far too quickly). He said it it is now the timer/pcb. Again after a couple of weeks wait a different engineer came to fit them, again still the same. By now he scratched his head & couldn’t think what it could be, although he mentioned something about a pressure sensor. He said he would go back & look at some drawings & let me know, although he said it might not be worth carrying on with it & would be better to buy another machine. I have a feeling they might not call back. In a nutshell, so far it has had an ntc feeler, timer & pcb board.
Does anyone have any further ideas please? I would be very gratefull.

Hi, is your repairer a member of this site ?

If he is, please ask him to contact me as I can let him have technical information that should help resolve the problem for you,
If he isn’t, he can contact me anyway as it may be beneficial to all 😀

Hi, Thanks for your reply. I am not sure if they are a member of this site, it is Apple Electrics of Reading & so far 2 engineers have been involved. I am not sure how they will take it if I try to tell them how to do their job by referring them to you. Any chance of giving me the information please then I can decide what to do. Cheers.

Re: Whirlpool G2P DWS COLD ONLY?

Had 2 engineers from Apple Electrics come round today armed with wiring diagrams to try to sort out my machine. Bearing in mind the NTC Feeler, Timer & PCB have already been changed they checked for broken or damaged wiring, the element, the regeneration system, pressure switch etc. Everything seemed to check out ok. They were looking for a thermal reset or switch but could not find one, although they said it was present on some Whirlpools. At the end of the day they could not come up with anything positive. The only solution they came up with was to replace the NTC Feeler again as it could have been damaged or faulty. If this does not work, it seems the only answer is to replace the machine! One thing I would like to mention is that just prior to the failure, I changed the eco button from eco to full temp, I mentioned this to the engineers. It could be co-incidence though. I am a bit disapointed about the lack of response on this forum about this problem, does anyone have any ideas please? before I lash out on a new machine.

I don’t think anyone has a definitive answer to be honest but any advice is offered freely 😉

I would tend to go with another NTC personally to rule that out, if that fails then maybe a call to Whirlpool as their service network will have a piece of hardware that can run a full diagnostics test on the PCB 🙂

THE END! Engineer came out today to fit second NTC feeler- STILL THE SAME!! They have now give up as they cannot think of anything else. As I said they have checked other items ok (heater etc). Another machine time I think- I might try contacting Whirlpool themselves as a last resort. If they don’t know then nobody does! Just to mention, I noted that instead of running the NTC wire through the door to plug in the pcb, the “engineer” chopped & joined the wires at the bottom of the door. Would this make a difference? I would imagine there is a connection there.
