ParticipantI purchased an ametek motor kit for a Hoover vortex V2000. Apart from the connectors, are there any other modifications required to fit this motor as it won’t fit at the small mount end due to a plastic moulding that probably stops the motor from spinning within the casing. This rectangular moulding interferes with the black plastic of the motor casing. What does the “P” and the arrow on the motor mount mean? Lastly the live to the terminal with the plastic box and double terminal, not easy to describe?

Note how the grey moulding is preventing the motor fitting into the mount. Modify by removing some of the moulding ❓ No mention of this in the instructions. 😥

Is this the connector for the live? :zap:

It looks like the wong motor has been supplied.
Check the rating plate on the cleaner itself for the full model number and serial numbers, if you post them up along with the part number of the motor supplied I can check for you 🙂

It’s the right kit for the model but some of it is missing I think.
You should have that grey cover in there as well hence the reason it won’t fit the old one 🙂
Kit includes:
Ametek motor, motor cover, agitator assy, drive belt, motor mountings small & Large, high temp sleeve & Amp tags.
A quick call to whoever supplied it I think 😉

I’ve got the parts, Ametek motor, motor cover, agitator assy, drive belt, motor mountings small & Large, high temp sleeve & Amp tags. Horrible black spindly agitator.
Its the hoover main body that’s the problem, the supplied cover is ok
Shop half day and I live many miles away 😥

A call to GIAS (Hoover/Candy service and spares) I think in that case, they are on 0870 9502943

Had a quick look at the new grey cover and it has a moulding similar to the photo, the difference is the size, possibly 3 or 4mm smaller, I’ll speak to GIAS but I think the solution is to cut the required amount off the main casing moulding.
This hoover has won a reprieve due to the fact it can lift dog hair from carpets, its bagless and it doesn’t choke with hair, but….the catch is useless and it falls over, heavy too.
Unfortunately you can’t trial a vacuum cleaner unless its an expensive kirby and another make I can’t remember.

I’d agree with Dave that you’ve got the wrong motor 😕
Couldn’t you just take the rubber mount off the old motor, and push it onto the new motor?

GIAS didn’t seem helpful.
The problems not with the rubber its the actual motor casing (see photo) that is causing the problem.
Spoke with shop and they are as confused as everbody on the forum, anyway I removed about 4mm by 10mm of plastic from the protruding web and the motor fits ok.
Motor so much quieter than the old one(s) 😆

Hooverman,
the part number you quoted seems to be the same, and I didn’t need to cut the rubber mount. Any chance you could confirm the motor part number?
Its got a stablemate now..miele TT5000 cat and dog 😀
