Lets get this out into the open and discuss it…..

We are desperately short of manpower at Kilmarnock.

David is working far too many hours which includes taking work home at the weekends, evening till 1930, and even Sunday work.

Consequently he is not able to do his primary role, that of administering the P&G contract. Sean has been seconded to do all the phone arounds, which he is good at but the cost of Sean sitting at the phone would pay for UKW to have another assistant.
So, 5 months after trying to get another assistant in place and being refused, I’m trying again. We are not working efficiently at Kilmarnock.

A new assistant can cross train to work for ISE and UKW, David can be the Office manager and keep the assistant employed. The phone around duties go back to Kilmarnock releasing Sean to support JH with the ISE project, stand in for holidays that the trainers will have ect.

As far as financing the assistant, we employ him to the ISE project. Then Cheryl will do a paper work excercise between the two where ukw will pay half the costs by subcontracting the labour from ISE. The employee will never need to know this.

Soon, Dave goes away for a week, ok we switch off the spares sales and lose money, not so bright of us really is it. When David goes away it will also have to switched off, Craig will never cope with our rquirements and why should he, he works for NWAR.

In a nutshell then, its nearly 2 months since Cheryl did an advert for attracting a new employee for Kilmarnock, it takes 10 mins to place the add in the job centre, on line.
The back room is a disgrace, just full of junk, Nwar returns and probably some good stuff if you know where to look. Do we really want JH to see the ISE office in that state when he visits?
Indie, our database is not ready, not able to handle our interventions which have already started.
And if you are now thinking I, we or they, don’t have time to programme it, I rest my case……..

Whilst nothing happens we are losing ground to inefficiency and we will soon have the holiday periods upon us.

And, Ken, before you through a strop, I am aware of all the good work you, David and Craig do, it’s the bits you haven’t done that are the problem.

    Re: Kilmarnock

I agree, even if to start with it’s on a part time basis perhaps ?

Say Monday to Wednesday which are the busiest days for the phone from what I can gather but then tere are tasks that can be found full time also I would imagine.

Another note, if/when someone is employed to back David up, we get another line added to the main number as I recieve numerous calls to my mobile (the number’s on the site in the spares sections) saying they can’t get through on the landline which must be frustrating, Taking the calls is not a problem but how many say “feck this” and go elsewhere I wonder ?

I’m not going into a strop. Apart from anything else I’m not giving you the satisfaction. 😉

The back room, as I said, can be cleared ina couple of hours as most of the stuff is there just to save putting it in the garage/s which makes it harder to access. Apart from which, other than Dave, who wants to work in a windowless office? My idea is to support another desk in the front office if that is possible.

Dave, we do actually need somone full-time, Kevin is correct in his assesment. We’ve just not had the time to deal with it as yet and we, David and I, agreed to hang off until there was work enough to ensure we got VFM from it.

Indie can handle service calls, it just can’t punt them out at present.

    Re: Kilmarnock

your reply does not address some points……….

When are you going to make time to find another employee?

When you gonna clear the office?

When you gonna load indie with the agents areas ect so it can be used?

Surely the hours David works can not continue…I for one am embarrased by the size of his contribution to the job.

This week, we talked about it this afternoon.

kheath wrote:When you gonna clear the office?

It is being done, as I had already reuested. Most of what you saw was empty boxes.

kheath wrote:When you gonna load indie with the agents areas ect so it can be used?

I do not know the state of play there after my week off and I didn’t have time to look at it this afternoon so I can’t effectively answer.

    Agreed, hence the first answer.

    Cheeky fecker 😆

I already said, when (eventually) I do get up there, and yes it it still going to happen just more slowly than I imagined – catch 22 etc 😉 that a window or at least a couple of skylights would need putting in.

Window my arse. The way things are going we won’t be there long enough to get planning and have one put in! 😉
