    Hi Guys.
Can you help. My elderly Aunt had some plastering work done in her kitchen. In the aftermath a neighbour scrapped the debris from her new cooker using something that caused the stainless steel hob to be very badly scored and scratched. The Stainless Steel matt finish is damaged and I think the hob will need to be replaced costing around £200 plus the cost of fitting it.
Q1) Is there an industrial process that could repair the hob,
Q2) or a way of sourcing it at a more realistic price?

    Someone’s been winding you up……
Two versions of this appliance, both have:

    “Hob top, silver” – p/no 3116208-17/8 @ about £64, plus VAT and P+P.

Email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk for confirmed prices and ordering.

    Regards,

    Hi Penguin45,

The initial price was given to me by Service Force.I phoned a different branch of SF this morning and they gave me a price of £150.

Spares @uk whitegoods.co.uk are quoting £147.13! Is there a special discount for those who live in SR of Yorkshire?

I would still be asking if there is a way of doing industrial electrolysis plating to the Hob that has been damaged? Its not Science Fiction, I remember, when we used to make things in the UK, that lads had parts of their Motorbikes transformed by this process.

    Regards Jazz

It appears that my tech info is out of date 🙁 . Sorry.

The service you’re describing should be available from a commercial electro-plater – whether you could keep the current finish is a bit debatable.
