A brilliant day today and a pleasure to be a part of a proper negotiating team.

The day started with a meeting with John at his place in Nottingham, which was 2 hours going through a negotiating tree which John had 1/2 built before my arrival. Much the same technique as John used on the flip charts in my dinning room.
At the end of two hours we knew what we wanted, what we would settle for and had worked out signals between us, telling the other to shut up and say nothing. Easy.

We based our scenario on CDA trying to get out of Spares on a van stock.

In the meeting CDA were impressed with the work we have done over the last 2 weeks, I showed them Robs see through photo which went down very well. The idea of Graham Dixons “fix it” books was not lost on them along with the ideas we laid on them for increasing the interest in ISE.
    ie:
Website (ise) becoming more of a tool
Detergent training flyers generating leads (London has done at least 6)
An ise appliance at the detergent training venues.
    Booking appointments for John
Immediate technical follow up by Sean and Me where appropriate.
followed by delivery of 1st order.

John to handle the sale of “display” cabinetts ect.
    The commisioning of POS stuff
    The packs we put together

All of this reinforced the idea of ISE being credible and determined with purpose. All understood and taken in by CDA.

Van stock was their real concern. Their point that if we got 250 sellers all with van stock their liability to van stock equaled £28,000 and they had little control of being ripped off.
We offered to do the control and fund the van stock for a 5{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} reduction of the price of every appliance. That was nearly £14.00 per appliance, they did not like that when they thought about it…
We then had disscussions on the cost of the 5 year parts warranty and the 1st year labour, I reminded them that we had an agreement inplace and they should honour it or renegotiate the deal, a pause, then John comes in with we would handle all the spares and remove the 12 month labour element for a £40.00 reduction in the price. The plan and delivery had worked to a tee.
They of course accepted and then offered to backdate it to cover all appliances we had bought since February. It was brill.
John then confirmed that our buying price is now £170.00+ vat and the deal was done.

I have brought up the issue of the technical stuff, they promise to re try their efforts. John will do a monthly visit to iron out any problems. We have agreement from them to negotiate directly with BEKO for the spares purchases.

So this is what we have….

Every sale gets us £53.00 inc toward the running of ISE
Every sale gets us £47.00 inc toward the 12 month labour and 5 year parts.
Every 5+5 sale gets us £60.00 inc toward the labour in years 2 to 5.

IMO we should now shut up, keep this info very close to our chests, telling no one.
I also think its important we do have an ISE board meeting to fully thrash out all aspects of what we have achieved today. To plan and create song sheets for us all, to plan the future direction of John, to plan the van stocks and the purchase of them.
In the meantime any post about van stock should be answered by one person only..Kenneth your nominated 😆 that way there won’t be mixed messages.
John and I think we can still negtiate with D&G for the extended warranty cover for labour for years 2 to 5.

If you think about this situation its our best scenario.

    Re: Todays CDA meeting.

    Agreed to all of it.

Some of the posts I will take a while with answering because it will be done carefully and with all the knowledge to hand, I think that’s the best way to save any slip ups. There’s no problem with anyone else answering, but we have to all be made aware if it’s one of those “touchy” subjects IMO.

Yep, agreed, which is why I deliberately haven’t been answering, much as I would like to have done, in case I get one tiny bit wrong the likes of Andy and Jeremy will jump on it 🙄

I doubt we’ll have to put up with those two much longer.

    Re: Todays CDA meeting.

I couldn’t make an easter weekend as I’m in Creetown that weekend.

We could do Sibson for Saturday 29th April for an overnight. Bridie and the kids would come and go to the local zoo ect during the day, leaving us to have our meeting. JH lives 30 minutes away, I’m just over an hour away… Also JH will have canvassed the 6 London interested companies as well as a guy on the Isle of Wight, who covers Hampshire, and introduced himself to the Electicity board replacement appliance guy, all in that week. That allows us the opportunity to hear 1st hand the effects of the packs and JH’s role.

If all goes well Sean and I will be doing Technical Training the 1st week in May.

    What you guys think?

    Re: Todays CDA meeting.

All sounds o.k but I still have a few questions, so an ISE bosard meeting ASAP is definately in order.

Here’s a few just to get the ball rollin.

    1) What happens if we get a endemic failure on the product.

    2) Do CDA still have a responsibility, If so what percentage intervention rate applies. Remember CDA are the original purchaser as far as BEKO are concerned

    3) If we are covered can we please have it written into a contract this time as I dont want to see any more nasty surprises or goalpost shifting.

    4) Has John been able to do a detailed intervention forcast to allow for us to cover our collective arses, or was this figure arrived at on the fly at the meeting. We all remember that Zanussi came unstuck with 5×5

    5) Is it our intention to spread some of this risk via the likes of D&G or JTM

    6) How quickly are we able to get…. Spares Prices, van stocks, Tech info

    7) Are we now responsible totally, for spares distribution, stores and logistics

    8) In the ISE forum we have led people to believe that most of these responsibilities lay with CDA as was the case up until this point.
Is it suggested that we allow people to continue to believe this.
If so I cant help feeling that this will get out at some stage and bite us on the arse.

    Re: Todays CDA meeting.

I agree with the “it will get out” at some time.

I think we have to contain it until such times that the ISE forum is only populated with live sellers.
As no one new can gain access to the forum until JH has seen them and they have had technical and ordered their 1st appliance, we have to contain only those who are selling at the moment. Please confirm you 2 are not granting access to anyone at the moment.
One way is to do personnel visits to those sellers to explain the shift on ISE’s part.
We have to do that once the forum is closed to non sellers.

If it gets out it can only come from 1 of the 5 of us.
New sign ups have to be told the truth from the word go, therefore next week to any interested business in the London area you have to NOT mention the underwriting, and only suggest they allow the MD to visit and explain the ISE proposition.

We do have answers to some of your questions Sean, and Lee Miller from D&G will be meeting up with John, soon. We should make it asap after our board meeting.

John is now available on 07979 520916.
