    I have an AEG Favorit 4220lD Dishwasher pnc no 911 234 13001.
Had it for about 8 years. Bought and installed by MFI. The first machine I had worked for about a week and then had continual problems with the flood prevention kicking in. After about half a dozen call outs, each time the engineer was puzzled as to the problem and got it started again by drying out underneath. All would be well for a short time then same problem again. Eventually they sent me a new machine which worked ok for a short time then same old problem.

My husband came to the conclusion that it was infact more to do with the plumbing under the sink and the pipe leading outside than the machine and the engineer agreed this was probably the case as if the sink got blocked when I was using dishwasher this was when problem occured.

Anyway, its still happens occasionally and I have managed for some years by just unplugging the machine and drying out underneath and it’s fine again……until this week when no amount of moving pipes, drying out etc will stop the flood prevention from working, I dry it out but as soon as water goes into machine the flood prevention kicks in.

Sorry this is so long winded, I’m now undecided weather to call out an engineer or to just give up and buy a new machine. Any thoughts please? Other than this particular problem the machine is fine and very well built. I can’t afford to replace it with one of the same quality.

I have checked sink and machine for blockages.

As you say, a pretty decent machine all told, I would call an engineer to be honest as (hopefully) it may be a straightforward repair 🙂

Check the repairs@ link below, that should put you in touch with a local Independent

    Dave.

Had one last look at my dishwasher before calling someone out. I could see that the water was leaking from something under the dishwasher when I turned it on, apparantly my husband thought it was the sump. Meant nothing to me but after spending hours on the net today discovered a picture of the sump entrance so I had an idea of what it was inside the dishwasher. Anyway I unscrewed it, washed it out although it didn’t appear blocked, screwed it back on again and yes!!!!so far its working. 😆 Hubby thinks the screws may have just come loose and the seal not tight enough, so why didn’t he think of it 😉
