ParticipantI’ve a very strange symptom here and wonder if anyone has come across it.
When I switch on the dishwasher it stops working after 2 minutes. This happens for any program I choose without displaying any faults on the indicator lights. When I open the door the light for the chosen program is still on. No water seems to be able to get to the spray arms as they are still dry. _However_ there is water left over the metal cover at the bottom of the tank.
What I have checked:
1. The intake and drain hoses and they seem to work – the machine can draw and drain water without problems.
2. There seems to be too much water at the bottom of the tank but I couldn’t find a leak after running it several times.
3. I’ve tried 2 different ways to reset the PCB suggested in this newsgroup, but none of them seems to help – the PCB doesn’t react in the described manner.Does anyone have a clue what I can look for?

Sounds more like a no circulation problem than anything to do with electronics. This is a technically very complex dishwasher – I would seriously consider professional help.
Power off if you are going to investigate further.

Thanks a lot for your response. Much appreciated.
No worries, I switched off the power 🙂
1. I laid the machine on one side to have a closer look at the bottom. I took off the black plastic tray. It was wet but no leakage could be found. I put it back on its feet, slipped a cardboard below the tray, and ran a few programmes to see if/where the water came out. However, the cardboard was dead dry! How could that be? Where did the water in the tray come from?
2. There is limescale on the tray. Is this normal? Does it reveal a leakage somewhere?
3. There is still no water going to the sprayarms. You said it could be a circulation problem. Which part causes it? The pump?
4. I read something about “float switch”. Does this dishwasher have one and if yes could it cause the problem?

The circulation pump is normally in the rear l/h corner on these. If the soap marks in the tray are also in that corner, it’s a fair bet that the pump has been leaking and has now seized. You may be able to hear a faint humming sound after the fill sequence – this is power getting to the pump, but it not turning.
Off the top of my head, I’m not sure if this on has a float switch – if it has there will be a polystyrene block attached to a switch dangling into the undertray.
HTH, careful with the power,

Hi Penguin45,
Thanks a lot for your response. Your diagnosis fits exactly the symptom!
– There are soap marks in the tray where the pump is (the one attached to the motor.)
– There is definitively a faint humming sound after the water-fill sequence. I could hear that the motor was trying pretty hard right before the faint humming sound.(Just completely out of curiosity – how can the water still fill up the blue water tank if the pump is faulty?)
So I assume its not a problem with the float switch.
Could you give me a quote for the circulation pump (plus postage) please? How long does it take for it to be delivered?
Best regards,

The whole motor and pump is 695210296 at £111.14 plus VAT and carriage but you may be able to replace just the pump part number 690070483 at £34.06 ex VAT, have a read of this thread although a different model the principal is exactly the same:
