ParticipantHi I would like some advice on what could be the cause of a problem with my washing machine.
I went to use it but found the fuse had blown. I replaced the fuse but now when I turn it on it gives one beep followed by a sequence of 5 beeps accompanied by 5 flashes of the end light.
Also the door light doesn’t come on.Many thanks in advance.

I don’t know the fault codes for that machine, but Zanussi’s are nortorious for interlock problems, and if the door won’t lock, the machine won’t start 😕
Have you tryed Repairs@?

I don’t think it’s a problem with the door lock, neither the green or the red lights on the door come on, my guess is that something got damaged when the fuse blew… but I have no idea what.
I’d like to try to repair it myself before I go to the expense of calling an engineer, what I really need to know is what part is most likely at fault, maybe someone who knows what the beep codes mean will be able to advise 😉

More likely the fault that caused the fuse to blow has also blown up the main circuit board as well based on the symptoms you describe 🙁
Any signs of a leak I wonder? If water gets into the motor (plastic outer drum holed?) then the fuse blows and takes the module with it. So could well be bad news all round I’m afraid?
(I based my assumption on just such an occasion I went to 2 months back on the same model Zanussi – drum was cracked by a coin left in someones pocket- machine scrapped!)

Would that green/red doorlock light be on before the starts it’s wash normally?
Though that is clutching at straws abit, as I think Martin is probably right.
And that’s why we are recommending an engineer. He/she could tell you in 5 minutes whether it’s fixable or not. 😕

Normally the green door light is on all the time that the power is on, it only switches to red when it’s washing.
I had a feeling that it might be the main board, no sign of any leaks. Cheaper to replace the machine than replace the part plus whatever caused it to blow in the first (the element perhaps) place you think?
Guess I’ll be using the laundrette for a while 😉

Hi Nick,
The fault codes on this machine are readable the start light will flash a sequence of times and so will the end light. Short flashes then a pause. If you can give me both i might be able to pin point a error code for you.Sparkyp

It’s one short flash, then a pause followed by 5 short flashes. The end light is the only one flashing.

I think it’s E51 in that case, 5 flashes followed by 1 (there is no E15)
Short circuit motor/faulty PCB which goes along with the above.

A fault giving E51 would be the end light flashing 5 times with a short pause and the start light flashing once with a short pause. Dave is correct in this instance five flashes gives E51 as there is no E50. Motor or triac or wiring loom to motor or pcb. Your best bet is an engineer as guessing could prove costly.

Thanks for all your advice, I’ll consider what to do next, meanwhile I guess I’ll be using the launderette 😉
I won’t be able to get it fixed till after the bank holiday anyway.
