    Hi there

I wondered if you could help me – we’ve had trouble with our electric SMEG oven in the last couple of days – it’s started to trip the house RCD when you turn it off after the oven has been in use.

We have found that if, after it trips everything, we let it cool down before switching it back on at the mains, that it sometimes comes on okay. We also managed to get it to switch off normally once, by simply switching it to the light/fan only setting until it had cooled right down before switching it off.

Nonetheless, it clearly isn’t working properly – and since yesterday we’ve not been able to switch it back on without it tripping everything again (you can hear (a relay?) in the clock go clunk as it does so).

This seems to have started since we had an (unusual) power cut in the area – but it equally feels like it could be temperature related.

Any ideas/advice – or is it an engineer plus possibly a new clock controller?

Thanks in advance for your help,

    Andy…

This type of fault requires specialist test equipment, to check oven and rcd. Would very much doubt that your clock faulty. sugest that you try
Repairs@ on the left to find a local engineer.

    Hope this helps
