ParticipantHi,
I have a hotpoint vtd65 which is 8 months old.
It has stopped heating up now and blows cold air. It was working fine the other day.The unit is displaying errorcode F-10.
I suspect the 2 thermisors above the heating element have gone.
I have tested it with a electric tester and 1 side of 1 thermisor has a electric supply, the otherside does not which supplies the heating element directly.
Could these of blown after only 8 months? I know my unit is under warrenty but i’m not busy and never at home to get an engineer and if its simple fix, i’d rather just replace them myself?
What do you people think?

It is not that simple a fix, usually comes as a complete element kit. As soon as you remove the back you have in theory negated your 12 months g/tee, and also your five year parts g/tee. Ring Hotpoint, they can often accomodate you so that you are not waiting in all day. Also there may be an underlying reason for stat failure which the engineer will know about or check for.
Also we do not advise live testing, you should check the thermostats for continuity with the plug removed.

Its a tumble dryer, not much goes wrong with them, hence why i opened it open. Thought fluff had clogged up the heating element and it was shutting off. Happened to my old dryer (wrked for 8 yrs) bout every 3 months. but the element was clean.
Typical they sell the unit as a kit when you only need 2x 99p thermisors.
I’ve lost faith in hotpoint or should i say indesit. My fridge packed up after a year and started working again for no reason 2 days later (RLA31) and now my dryer, both under a year old.
Wonder when my washing machine will blow up. (WFD865)April 19, 2006 at 8:40 am #173348iadom

They are not thermisors [sic], they are thermostat and thermal safety cut out. They have modified the back panel slightly which is included in the kit. -
